Hennessy – Tailored presentation folder in Curious Skin Red paper

For the Hennessy cognac house, Atelier Bulk created a bespoke presentation folder, conceived as a veritable narrative and presentation tool. A demanding project, at the crossroads of publishing, paper packaging and artisanal finishing, which highlights our ability to produce complex, precise and durable objects.

An A4 folder designed as a system

The project takes the form of an A4 presentation folder, incorporating several interior pockets designed to hold documents of various formats. The folder is closed with a red elastic band, perfectly matched to the color of the paper, ensuring both stability and visual consistency.

Inside, the folder houses various editorial materials, as well as a dedicated photography pocket containing a set of four-color offset prints.

Curious Skin Red paper, at the heart of the project

The folder is made entirely of Curious Skin Red, a creative paper developed by Antalis, renowned for its very smooth, slightly gummy, almost velvety feel. This paper, both singular and technical, was chosen for its ability to carry a dense red color while offering a strong sensory experience, resonating with the world of the Hennessy house.

Printing, gilding and in-depth work on materials

Several techniques have been combined to give the object all its richness. The folder incorporates gold hot stamping and white hot stamping, as well as fulling to create a rectangular bowl on the front cover.

This bowl houses a four-color offset-printed photograph, glued with precision, creating a subtle interplay of levels between image, paper and gilding. All in-house photographic and editorial content is also produced in four-color offset on Fedrigoni X-Per Premium White paper.

Content cutting and integration

The folder incorporates a number of customized cut-outs, designed to enable each document to be precisely inserted and held in place. These cut-outs were fine-tuned during the testing and prototyping phases, to ensure a fluid grip and perfect coherence once the folder is assembled.

Mostly manual processing

After printing, the project required extensive table-top finishing. Folding, gluing, pocket assembly, rubber-band fitting and final assembly were all carried out in Atelier Bulk’s workshops, with particular attention paid to the regularity, alignment and solidity of the finished object.

Prototyping and collaboration with Maison Sagan

The design of this presentation folder was imagined by the Maison Sagan studio. Atelier Bulk was involved right from the prototyping phase, adapting the project to the technical constraints of the paper, die-cuts and finishes, while respecting the initial graphic intent.

Working closely together, we were able to transform a graphic concept into an accomplished, functional printed object, faithful to the original design.
